Can the cowboys bounce back in round 3? Can the Eels continue their good form? Read on to find out…

This is rugby betting NRL round 3 betting preview.

queensland cowboys vs sydney roosters nrl round 3 betting predictionQueensland Cowboys VS Sydney Roosters Thursday, March 17

Sydney Roosters

The Roosters have been poor thus far in NRL 2016, despite the Canberra Raiders handing the match to the Roosters on a golden platter, they couldn’t capitalize, and went on to lose with 1-point in their round 2 fixture, with the final score being 21-20 in favour of the Raiders.

Giving up a 10 point lead in the second half while playing against 12-men is frankly unacceptable.

The Roosters who have consistently been the best defensive side, in the league, over the past several years, have been poor on defence in NRL 2016 thus, far.

The Roosters are a side which is currently struggling with form, since they are not clicking as a unit, due to the loss of several veteran players, which formed the backbone in previous seasons.

The Roosters rookies will have a great amount of pressure on them – to fill the departed and/or injured Roosters veteran’s positions.

At only 18 years of age, with 2 caps to his name Roosters rookie, Laterall Mitchell have been rather impressive thus far, while Jayden Nikorima will likely make his debut against the Cowboys.

The Roosters are in a rebuilding phase, their youngsters will improve as they get used to the pace of the NRL, but at the moment they are just not gelling and are generally poor in all areas.

Queensland Cowboys

On the other side of the field you have the opposition team, and defending NRL champions the Cowboys, who has been hot and cold thus far in NRL 2016, producing a great round 1 performance but then dropped a match in a shock defeat against the Eels

The Cowboys played poorly against the Eels in their round 2 loss, their handling was poor, and the Eels managed to put the Cowboys under pressure for most of the match.

Perhaps under estimating the Eels, and not being up for the match, the Cowboys struggled to get any momentum going on offence and struggled to penetrate the Eels defence.

With that being said, we still believe the Cowboys are the real deal and will make a strong claim in 2016 to defend their title.

No doubt the Cowboys would want to get back to winning ways in their round 3 fixture against the Roosters, thus expect a focused and pumped up Cowboys side.

Cowboys star player, Michael Morgan, who has been anonymous in round 2 would want to rectify things in round 3 and expect him to be the standout player for the Cowboys in round 3, putting the Roosters defence under immense pressure.

Expect a big Cowboys victory, in NRL round 3, over a young, inexperienced Roosters team.

Those looking to favour the Sydney Roosters for a straight up win, which we really do not recommend, can take the Roosters at odds of @4.00

The line has been set at +/- 12-points

Rugby Betting’s Recommended NRL Bet Roosters vs Cowboys:

Sydney Roosters straight up, with a large stake = 25% return on investment, should make for a nice day at the office. 85% Confidence

bulldogs vs eels round 3 betting preiewCanterbury Bankstown Bulldogs vs Parramatta Eels (Friday, March 18)

Parramatta Eels

The Eels will be heading into their Round 3 fixture with loads of confidence after coming off a superb win against defending champs, the Cowboys.

As a team, the Eels are looking red hot and seem to have just the right combination of forwards and backs. The Eels were devastating on offence in their previous match, with Corey Norman leading the way, having a superb ability to offload the ball in contact.

On the other side of the ball, the Eels are just as strong, being superb on defence. The Cowboys struggled to put points on the board against the Eels, with Eels hooker Nathan Peats leading the way having made as many as 40-tackles in their match against the Cowboys (wow)!

Unfortunately for the Eels, Peats picked up an injury towards the end of their previous match and has been ruled out for several weeks, no doubt the Eels will miss their hooker and defensive general, and his replacement will have some big boots to fill.

We expect the Eels to build on their superb victory from round 2, being impressive both on offence and defence they will proof a tough nut to crack!

Canterbury Bankstown Bulldogs

The Eels will face an equally confident opponent in the Bulldogs who have won both of their fixtures thus far. The Bulldogs were absolutely superb in their opening fixture destroying the Sea Eagles.

However, the Bulldogs were scrappy and far from perfect in round 2 against the Panthers, especially in the 1st half, and had to work hard in the 2nd half to come back and get the win, with that being said a win is a win and the Bulldogs will no doubt build on that heading into their round 3 fixture against the Eels.

Inconsistency has been the Bulldogs downfall in the past several seasons, however, with the Bulldogs yet to lose a match, and getting a bit of a “wake-up call” against the Panthers, we can expect a more focused and switched on Bulldogs team for their fixture against the Eels.

Rugby Betting round 3 NRL Predictions: Canterbury Bulldogs vs Parramatta Eels:

This is a tough one since the Bulldogs are such a strong side, however, the Eels currently looks red hot after their victory against the Cowboys.  An upset is not impossible in this one and we will favour the Parramatta Eels to narrowly squeeze through a hard-fought victory, Eels by 2-points.

What The Bookies Are Saying:

The Bookies disagree with our prediction and have made the Bulldogs, rather strong favourites, with William Hill Australia offering the best odds at @1.52 for a straight win.

Those looking to go for an away win can get the Eels at rather generous odds of @2.55 also from William Hill Australia.

The Line has been setting at +/- 5-points in favour of the home side, the Bulldogs.

Rugby Betting’s Recommended NRL Bet Canterbury Bulldogs vs Parramatta Eels:

As mentioned above, we are putting our trust in the Eels and believe an upset is not impossible, take the Eels straight up from William Hill Australia at @2.55  Confidence: 65%

knights vs raiders betting tips and previewsNewcastle Knights vs Canberra Raiders (Saturday, March 19)

Canberra Raiders

The Raiders despite numerous setbacks and injuries, are looking like a real solid unit. They are sitting on 1st placed on the NRL ladder, being tied at 4 points with 5–other teams.

The Raiders had to dig deep in their previous match, against the Sydney Roosters, despite being a man down, playing with 12 men, and losing their 2nd halfback of the season, the Raiders made a stunning comeback in the 2nd half, after being 10-points down at the break.

The Raiders came out firing in the 2nd half and outscored the Roosters by 16–points to 4 in the 2nd half pulling off a stunning comeback win, with the final score being 21-20 in favour of the Raiders.

The Raiders season will largely depend on whether their squad can remain healthy as they can’t really afford further injuries.

Discipline has also been an issue for the Raiders, conceding too many unnecessary penalties and unforced errors, something they will look to clean up in their round 3 fixture against the Newcastle Knights.

With that being said the Raiders have shown glimpses of brilliance in both of their matches thus far, especially on offence, it is hard to name any standout players since all players have stepped up, especially, Jarrod Croker and experienced hooker, Josh Hodgson.

However as a unit the Raiders are playing some great footy, providing they can clean up their discipline and stay healthy they can go far this season.

Newcastle Knights

On the other side, we have the Newcastle Knights which have been well…nothing short of awful so far this season. The Knights sitting dead last on the NRL log will have a tough time against a good Raiders side.

Despite playing at home and playing against an untested Raiders halfback, it is hard to find anything positive to say about the Knights, they will have to make some major changes should they have any chance of winning this match!.

Rugby Betting’s NRL round 3 Predictions: Newcastle Knights vs Canberra Raiders

The Raiders, despite their injury problems and playing away from home, should have no problem to win, and win BIG, against the Knights. Raiders by 13+

What The Bookies Are Saying:

The Bookies agree with our prediction, and there is certainly some serious money to be made in this game. Having scanned all major Australian sportsbooks we have found to offer the best value bet.

You can get the Raiders, at extremely generous odds of @ 1.57 for a straight up win (JUMP ON IT…NOW)

Those looking, for the impossible, can get the Knights at odds of @2.40

It seems like bookmaker, Sportsbet Australia, is feeling overly generous for this match setting the line at +/- 4-points.

Rugby Betting’s Recommended NRL Bet Newcastle Knights vs Canberra Raiders:

The Raiders shall have no problem in covering the spread at 4-points, time to cash in on this one! Confidence: 95%
